Ken Langenhahn
I was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. My father was a sheet metal worker and my mother was a school teacher. I consider myself blessed to have a brother and a sister that, despite not all living in the same state, have grown closer through the years. I am equally as blessed to be married a good number of years now – and “she was blessed with a good sense of humor.” I also consider myself very lucky to have a responsible stepson. Did I just say that?
I am an active member of Appleton Alliance Church, and have been going there for the past 16 years. I am also a member of the Christian Business Association, the Appleton Noon Lions, and the National Federation of Independent Businesses. I enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, and some hunting when given the chance.
After graduating in 1977, I joined the US Navy and attended school for Hydraulics and Pneumatics on aircraft. Upon completion, I was assigned to VA-27 - a light attack “hook and go” aircraft squadron featuring A-7E aircraft and was based in California.
Our squadron made two western-pacific cruises - one on the USS Enterprise, the other on the USS Coral Sea. We traveled to Hawaii, Hong Kong, Calhoun, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, and Australia, and were part of a multi-nation mission in the Indian Ocean off the gulf of Oman in the late 70’s/early 80’s.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I joined K-C Aviation painting aircraft. I also started my career in Property Management, working for Dekker Real Estate. My duties included renting units, collections, advertising, arranging vendors, meeting city inspectors and fire marshals, snow removal, lawn care, and much more.
Recognizing the benefits of real estate, I started buying property in the early 80’s, fixing them up and selling for a profit! I also worked a couple sales jobs and had a 14-year career with Aramark Refreshment Services (ARA) - the whole time staying involved with my property endeavors. Responsibilities at ARA included customer service, planning menus and service times, organizing locations, assisting with planning route schedules, delivery and sales.
While recuperating from a hip replacement, I went back to school and completed the
E-Seed Entrepreneurship Training course, and the American Management Association Certificate program, both offered through Fox Valley Technical College. After creating and submitting a business plan, I opened WatchDOG LLC.
